Insurers may send one or more independent examiners or IEs. They are not allowed to treat the client. Clients may choose another practitioner from the same profession to assess them for treatment. For example, clients that have had an OT IE still qualify to have an OT that they have chosen to assess their needs and make recommendations.
Rehab counsellors facilitate client treatment by providing support to overcome and manage various hurdles to successful rehabilitation, such as chronic pain, psychological or behavioural trauma, social or envirnonmental factors, maladaptive coping mechanisms, etc..

Most people we encounter have no idea how to proceed or that time is of the essence to get their rightful benefits. Accident benefits and procedures are complicated and seemingly ever-changing. Many health care professionals do not know much more about this system and its requirements than the general public.
In the event of an injury from a motor vehicle accident (MVA), insurance will cover the costs of approved treatment, rehabilitation and support, but this coverage is not automatic and must be applied for. Therapacc's occupational therapists, physiotherapists, rehabilitation assistants and rehab counsellor are part of our MVA injuries team. Personal injury lawyers and independent examiners may also be involved.
